Child says “Omg I can’t believe that I’m getting the newest Harry potter Lego set!”

Child fingers the gift, staring with amazement. Maybe there is santa claus after all! He secretly thought: “Can’t believe my brother- someone who can’t be bothered with Christmas, actually gave me such a wonderful surprise.”

Just as he stood there speechless and in awe, the Brother says: “Eh, before you get too excited. Just want to tell u that the Lego set is not for you. I was pulling your leg! Hahaha. Why will I buy that for u? I’ve been buying you ice cream and power ranger what.”

Child is disillusioned.

Moral of the story. Child probably have tons other toys. But maybe it means alot to him that his brother got him something for Christmas. Not jus anything but something he really wanted and didn’t expect to get.

Maybe you think the child is too spoilt. But wont u indulge him once ina while?

Haha. Ok. That was all my grousings la. So frustrated. Have to blog abt it.

Although it is meant to be a small and cosy affair, I can’t help but to design an E-invite. Probably less than 10 people will receive this. But it makes me feel good… LOL

To decide on wedding bands.

For economical purposes, we’re likely to go back to where 星星 bought the solitaire, cos they’ll give discounts for return customers.

For ideas, I’ve googled and stumbled upon this wedding site by a self-proclaimed Bridezilla. She had an entry titled: “Bland Band vs Bling Ring”. This was about her dilemma in wanting to choose something with much bling (i assume diamonds diamonds everywhere) or to have a plain & simple band. One of the deciding factors was that: [quote] with the wedding expenses going through the roof, we really didn’t have the spare cash to splash on a bling-ring [unquote]

So, they decided on a plain gold band..

Erm… my first thought was ????, no spare cash but can buy tiffany & co. Isn’t that ex as well???? But then again, it’s all a matter of perspective. Maybe the bling ring she wanted costs 4 times as much? LOL

For poor ol’ us, we’ll settle for our unbranded diamond warehouse. I’m sure we’ll find something we like out of the hundreds of design!

At first I thought it was a pimple and tried squeezing it. But nothing. It’s now slightly inflamed and is painful to touch.

Been 2-3 days. Pondering to go see a doc. Maybe go to staff clinic on Monday.

Ooh well, better not scare myself! bleah…

Update: It is just a ginormous boil. Slowly subsiding in size. So ugly… But then again, who can see???? HAHAHA

星星 and me had a heated exchange over whether to install a projector in our new nest.

He wanted it because the small voice in his head has been asking him to buy a projector. WAHAHA…  Alrighty, to be serious, he wanted a big screen to play X-box (even though we don’t even own one… yet) Also, it gives a better cinematic experience. Given our spacious living room area, it seemed a waste to not make full use of the space. Since we can have a 70 inch screen, why settle for a 46 inch?

I wanted just a normal tv because I had my doubts on whether a projector will make for good watching. (clear images/vivid colors/resolution) Think about all the slide shows/presentations that you’ve been seeing in the office. Do you really want to have this in place of your tv?? Also, won’t the glare from the sun reduce the visibility?? Don’t really require the cinema effect when watching 午后闲情. Plus plus plus, how many times will we be having frens over for games night a year???

At this point, neither party wanted to give in.

So… the compromise offered by 星星 was that he’ll buy the projector with his own savings and still have a normal LCD/plasma tv.

Sounds good? But no…. stubborn ol’ me is still not happy with this compromise because I find it a waste of money! Why buy 2 tv? Got no money to buy projector now but can tell interior designer to make provisions for it. Meaning that we’ll see one stick poking out of the false ceiling for months. Strange, no?

Not soon after, we visited kikki.K (my pit stop at ION) and I was (as always) dazzled by anything and everything in the shop! I wanted to buy and mount a monthly planner on our new fridge. (see below) That way, we’ll be able to keep track of our activities! And 星星 thinks I’m wasteful and wants to DIY (photocopy on paper and paste magnet on the back)

IT”S NOT  THE SAME LOR! Plus this one is infinitely much cheaper than a projector!!! Plus plus plus, at least I’m not a “shoe person” (read: has 100 pairs of shoes) or a “bag person” (read: has 1 bag…. each of LV, Coach, Burberry, Fendi, Gucci and all the other luxury brands)

星星 made a cute comment about how we could possibly fall in love with each other when we clearly have such differing opinions. So my conclusion is that some men just love projectors and some women just like kikki.K. They need not necessarily like or understand why their other halves behave this way sometimes. It’s important to come to peace with it. *oommmmmmm* (ala meditation)

Eye-dazzling and brilliantly white solitaire. A girl cannot ask for more. (Of cos, the proposal process could be abit more well executed la! Not even a surprise. *grumble)

You know the typical “Uniquely Singaporean Syndrome” where the guys mumble: “Erm, let’s go buy HDB” and that is equivalent to a proposal. I told 星星 that I will NEVER subject myself to this humiliation and that I will NEVER agree to such a “suggestion”. But alas, I did land myself in such a situation. Or rather 星星 landed us in this situation! *grumble

Long story short, we bought ourselves a flat and the proposal followed soon after.

Now, I am happily surfing the net for beautiful designing ideas for houses. Here’s to share:

We got to take photos with so many characters!!! Kungfu panda was really huge… poor fella inside must be sweating like hell underneath the heavy costume plus the humid weather.

Found some wacky hats outside a novelty store. Incidentally, 星星 is dressed as Julius Caesar* and I’m dressed as Cleopatra. Totally unintentional but look! – lovers of the ancient times.

*Edit: Come to think of it. That’s just any normal roman soldier look. Julius Caesar should be wearing a crown of olive leaves. LOL

Wacky Hats

Just before we called it a day, we found a giganomous  Hersheys shop and an equally giganomous Hersheys chocolate syrup bottle! CHOCOLATE!!!!

INGREDIENTS

12 chicken wings
2 Tbs sesame oil
2 Tbs Marmite or Bovril
3 Tbs oyster sauce
3 Tbs honey
2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped

METHOD

1. Wash the chicken wings under running water, pat dry with paper towels. Using a sharp knife or kitchen shears, cut the wings into three parts: drummette, flat (middle part of the wing) and wing tip. Save the wing tips for making chicken stock. Place the drummettes and flats in a resealable plastic bag.
2. Mix the other ingredients thoroughly in a glass jar or bowl. Pour the marinade into the bag, making sure every piece of chicken is coated. Press all the air out of the bag, seal and leave to marinate in the fridge overnight.
3. Preheat oven to 180 deg C. Line a baking tray with baking paper of aluminium foil and place a metal rack over it.
4. Scrape as much of the marinade off the chicken as possible – a teaspoon is useful here – and place the pieces on the rack. Set aside until the oven is at the right temperature.
5. Bake the wings for 18-22 minutes (depending on the size). They should be  a deep brown but not burnt. If doing in two batches, do a tray of all drummettes (they will take 20 to 22 minutes), then a tray of all flats (they will take 18-20 minutes). Let cool 5 minutes before serving.

Serves four as a snack.
